Coimbatore Kidney Centre is organizing a Continuing Medical Education Programme on Urinary Tract Infection in children on 06 November 2005 at 10 am.
Aim of the meeting
To bring to the notice of practicing Paediatricians/ Paediatric surgeons /Urologists / Physicians and Family Practitioners the latest advances in diagnosis and management of urinary tract infection and help to formulate specific practice guidelines.
Format of the meeting
Case histories of two children with urinary tract infection will be presented. Principal Discussants (Paediatric Nephrologist and Paediatric Urologist) will be asked to give their views. The participants will be encouraged to ask questions and clear their doubts. The moderator will conduct the session in such a way that useful practice guidelines will be suggested.

Female, 8 years old, bedwetting since childhood, day time urgency,
Dysuria and fever one month ago,
Nocturnal enuresis+
Complains of repeated upper respiratory symptoms
History of intake of homeopathic drugs for infection
Parents - nonconsanguineous
Father - hypertensive

Case History: Patient 2
MALE, 4 yrs old, pain left side of abdomen – duration 2 years,
cries while passing urine, frequent urination small in quantity – duration – 2 years,
mild fever on and off – duration – 1 month.
Parents - no specific disease, non consanguineous.
On examination normal except for suprapubic tenderness, right renal
angle tenderness,
BP – 90/60
